A Photo is Worth a Thousand Comments

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a photo is worth a thousand comments. So here are some random photos with minimal comment:

My brother-in-law, Sasha, and Natasha in Mollie's Irish Bar where we celebrated the 4th of July with many toasts to the birthday of America.

Tanya and me in Mollie's. My favorite beer here is Kilkenny. I have found it nowhere else. Tanya's Guinness came with a shamrock imprinted on the foam.

My guidebook says that that the indoor Kuznechniy farmers market is the best stocked and most expensive market in the city. It is located across the street from the Dostoyevsky Museum - the place where the famous writer lived with his family before his death in 1881. After looking around we bought three kinds of honey.

Tanya found several kinds of fish here that she said she has never seen in California. Russians eat more fish than meat.

Lots of caviar

Tanya was very happy to be able to spend time with her long-time friend,
Tamara, a kindergarten teacher.

Known popularly in Russian as "Spas na krovi",
the "Saved on the Blood" Church was built by Czar Alexander III
to memorialize the site where his father, Czar Alexander II
was assassinated by terrorists on March 1, 1881.
Taking tour boats through the rivers and canals
of St. Petersburg is very popular when the
weather is nice.

Another tour boat. Notice the typical Russian food:
strawberries and beer.
There are some nice vistas on Nevsky Prospekt,

some worth a closer look.

Finding pretty girls to photograph on Nevsky Prospekt
is as easy as finding mushrooms in the forest. Here's one

...and here's another.

The girl had a bag that had patch that said "Sochi 2014".
Being awarded the site for the 2014 Winter Olympics
is a very big victory for Russia.
